Not that Solita loves GMA less…

WONDERS never cease in the Philippines, especially in the political scene. Who would have thought, six months ago that heavyweight Hello Garci witness Michaelangelo Zuce, vehement as vehement could be in his testimonies about his “uncle-commissioner’s” manipulations, would one day be back (?) in the administration’s virtual arms by agreeing to help, photos and all, in the Small Town Lottery (STL)? Look, ma, am back — on the other side of the fence!
And who would have reckoned a “pro-GMA” Solita Monsod. strident in her defense of the winning margin of the President, ever and suddenly stepping out of line to deplore charter change — the administration’s current great project (okay, express train if you wish to call it that) – saying it is an ill-advised move by the administration-dominated House led by Joe de V? Not you, not me, not even her pare, Oscar Orbos, I guess. That was rather unexpected, mare!
Monsod, who MLQ 3 and some political observers have categorized as part of the middle forces in the country (got some reservations on that one but that will come in another post here), probably got struck by a little thunderbolt, so I think. But the more probable explanation, some Pangasinenses believe, is her dislike for JDV, all other reasons for her off-key song on Cha-Cha being peripheral.
Not that Solita loves GMA less but that she despises JDV more, or something like that. It’snot about GMA being less right but that Gina’s hubby is all wrong, insofar as she is concerned. Winnie Monsod, I suppose, for all her scholarly mind, just suffers from the “middle forces” common regard of Speaker Joe as a trapo and ergo, someone who could do nothing right for the country, their country.
While the Palace and much of the rest of GMA allies chose to suffer GMA’s support for Joe de V’s “initiatives” rather than displease the President or cast aspersion on her tactical wisdom about matters political, Solita, ah, the ever voluble Solita, has never believed discretion is the better part of valor.
She’ll talk, oh, she’ll talk alright, even if that means she’ll appear to be eating crow. That’s something to Winnie’s credit? You tell us.
