The bug

SOME bug or the other kept us from posting the past 24 hours on our PC.Unable to log in because of a supposedly "incorrect password" (egad,we've been using that password even in our sleep, how could we miss?), I vented my frustration on digesting the headlines, in-between reading MLQ III, of course.

Speaking of bugs, so the US bugged Erap, JV and Ping (among many other lesser stars, we presume). So what? Everyone knows Bush and the Big White Brothers bug us everytime — the same way we bug 'em too, in our own primitive ways.

Only difference we guess is out here in our own Las Islas Filipinas, we are so crude, so uncivilized we do it furtively and don't own up to it even when caught. Ol' Whitey, for his part, does it with aplomb and finesse; when he does bug you, he sends you afterward, repeat, afterward, a diplomatic note about a "legal notices of interception of wire and /or electronic communications" All so nicey and cute.

Just so you don't get surprised and have a heart attack when the storm troopers charge your rundown hovel wee hours of the night, shouting "Down, down, down!" guns cocked and menacing.

How so very considerate of Uncle Sam! I peeping-tom(ed) you and caught you wearing an unlicensed brassiere, how do you plead, or something like that. Now, which illegal act comes first: the illegal bra or the illegal spying?

Must Big Brother always get away with anything he fancies? I'll remember to ask Keana Reeves or Rustom that this weekend?
